Karaoke, or more popularly known nowadays to as
videoke, has
always been our favorite past time. My family, friends and officemates
can’t live without it. Videoke is always present in every Filipino’s
occasion – birthdays, weddings, christening – or sometimes our way of
relaxing. Just when 2 or more people gather in wherever they want, as
long as there’s a vedeoke set (if none
, a television, a dvd set, and a
microphone will do), surely you’ll find them singing.
Here’s the author’s list of fun songs that worked for them:
- “Love Shack” – The B-52’s
- “Like a Virgin/Like a Prayer – Madonna
- “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” – Whitney Houston
- “I Will Survive” – Gloria Gaynor
- “Livin’ on a Prayer” – Bon Jovi
- "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" - Joan Jett
- “Don’t Stop Believing” – Journey
- “Since U Been Gone” – Kelly Clarkson
- “Total Eclipse of The Heart” – Bonnie Tyler
- “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These)” – The Eurythmics
- “Every Breath You Take” – The Police
- “You’re So Vain” – Carly Simon
- “Time After Time” – Cyndi Lauper
- Sweet Child o' Mine” – Guns N’ Roses
- "Venus" - Bananarama
- "Brass in Pocket" - The Pretenders
- "Call Me" – Blondie
Others may not agree with the list above. Because of the sentimental
nature of the Filipinos
, we tend to like the ballads and the mellow
love songs more than music with an upbeat tune. Here’s the top 3 songs
that I believe has always been in Filipino’s top choices.
- My love will see you through
- Can’t take my eyes of you
- Bed of Roses
